The SPIRIT OF ADVENTURE returned from a 10-day trip on Saturday, Oct. 30. Mike Keating decided to fish on The Ridge and didn’t go to Alijos Rocks on this trip.

Joe Dunn, the previous owner of the SPIRIT was one of the anglers. He caught 5 wahoos among other fish. He said that when you are 92, anytime you get five big wahoo in nice weather, you have had a great trip.

Jackpot winner was John Ryan of Brea with a 54.6 pound Wahoo, followed by Ben Elizarraras of Corona with a 52 pound Wahoo.

Jim Hart and his group of Grady-White owners returned from a 7-day trip to Alijos Rocks. The anglers spent three days there and according to Jim, the best fishing was in the late afternoon. Jim flylined a squid on 40-pound and got the largest yellowtail, a 49 pound mossback.

The jackpot was won by Leroy Cross of Santa Cruz with a 80.5 pound yellowfin. Leroy fought the tuna for 45 minutes, and that with “two titanium shoulders”! Mike Thomas of Campbell got second place with a 74,4 pound tuna. Harvey Rosen of Benicia won third place with a 73,2 pound yellowfin.

Our next trip with available spots is our 10-day, leaving San Diego Oct. 20 and returning Oct. 30, 2010.  The load is limited to 20 passengers. The cost of $2,690.00 includes accommodation, all meals, snacks and bait. The Mexican excursion permit is an additional $100.00.

The 8-day trip to Alijos Rocks was a success!  Bruce Davis and his group caught Wahoo, Tuna and Yellowtail. Matt Mendenhall of San Diego got the big fish, a 94-pound Yellowfin Tuna! Chartermaster Bruce came in second with a 78.8 pounder and third place went to Bill Travis of Alta Loma for a 74.2 pound Yellowfin Tuna.

Charter master Byron Reidenbaugh and his Tuna Chasers returned from their 24th annual fishing trip on the SPIRIT. The 20 anglers came back from Alijos Rocks with a good catch, which included tuna, yellowtail and a few wahoo. Jim Boyle from El Cajon won first place with a 93 lbs. tuna. Charter master Byron took second place with a 80 pounder and Steve Lashbrook of Princeville, HI got third place with a 78,6 pound yellowfin tuna.

Mike Keating took 23 anglers to Cedros and San Benitos Island. The trip was organized by Joe Pfister from Seeker Rods. The yellowtail fishing was very good and Gerry Villalobos of Los Angeles won first place with a 37.4 lbs yellowtail. Second place went to Hal DeWalt of Lodi with a 36 pounder. Hal also won the Seeker Trophy for the largest fish caught on a Seeker Black Steel 6480 rod. Third place went to Kirk Agnitsch of Craig, AK with a 35.8 pounder.

The SPIRIT OF ADVENTURE was on a 5-day trip to Cedros and Benitos Island. The 23 passengers caught Yellowtail and some Tuna. Jackpot winner was Rick Bothmer from Carlsbad with a 38 pound Bluefin Tuna. Roger Lessard of Corona came in second with a 32.4 pound Yellowtail, followed by Bruce Roen of Sutter Creek with a 30 pound Yellowtail.

The Spirit of Adventure returned from a 5-day trip on Sept. 6 with limits of Yellowtail. Charlie Bear from San Bernardino was the charter master on this trip. The 22 anglers had a great time fishing at San Benitos and Cedros Island. The jackpot winners were: Steven Goodman of San Luis Opisbo with a 36.5 pound mossback, followed by Sam Sorenson of Paso Robles with a 35.6 pounder. Third place went to Scott Daniels from San Luis Obispo with a 33.3 pounder.

The Spirit of Adventure returned from a 4-day trip on Sept. 1 with 21 Arizona Anglers on board. Yellowtail fishing at Cedros was great.  Jackpot winners: Jeff Jackson of Chandler, AZ,  took first place for a 32.2 pound Forkie. Roger Bies of Phoenix won second place with a 31,6 pounder and charter master David Covert won  third place for a 31.2 pound yellowtail.
